Partners in music and life, Satoko Fujii and Natsuki Tamura began their musical collaboration with the quartet Tobifudo in 1992. Since then they have performed and recorded together in more than a dozen different projects including intimate duos, each other’s electric quartets, acoustic bands including Fujii’s Min Yoh Ensemble and Tamura’s Gato Libre, collaborative groups such as Junk Box (with drummer John Hollenbeck) and Kaze (with Christian Pruvost and Peter Orins), and all of Fujii’s orchestra projects (NY, Tokyo, Nagoya, Kobe, and Berlin).
This Is It!, their latest project, teams them with drummer Takashi Itani, who has previously played with Fujii’s New Trio (with bassist Todd Nicholson), Tobira (with Nicholson and Tamura), and on the most recent Satoko Fujii Quartet CD, “Live at Jazz Room Cortez” (with Tamura and violinist Keisuke Ohta). This Is It! will be releasing their debut CD in June 2018 and IMOO is pleased to present them on their North American tour.
