PCP Trio

Performing at Gigspace, Sunday September 8th, 7:00pm

  • Alex Pelchat: Guitar
  • Eric Craven: Drums
  • Craig Pedersen: Trumpet

Drawing influence equally from Pauline Oliveros’ Horse Sings from A Cloud, Keiji Haino’s Fushitsusha and Slayer’s Reign in Blood, PCP trio manages to make some cohesive sense of a mess of ideas.  Hard-driving and noisy, Pelchat, Craven and Pedersen work together as a clear unit, pushing and pulling musical ideas to extremes.

Alex Pelchat is a guitarist active in Montreal’s experimental music scene and a frequest visitor to IMOO. He has spent the last few years dedicating himself entirely to improvisation. He plays with various free jazz ensembles as well as noise and rock groups. He has played with *Shining Wizard*, Leftovers Diable, Drøm Før Du Dør, Ninja Simone, Gens Chrétiens, the Total Improvisation Troop, and Shortest Longest Day. With *Shining Wizard*, Pelchat has toured the American East Coast and released a warmly-received first album, No Room For. As a solo artist and as a member of Leftover Diable, he has performed at Massachusetts’ XFEST.

Eric Craven is a Montreal based musician who has been playing with various projects for more than 20 years  (1/4 tonnedropheadTrace Magnettehangeduphrstasilver mt zion others) and works as a community development librarian doing mostly creative new media projects with Montrealers of all ages.

IMOO founder Craig Pedersen is a trumpet player and experimenting musician living in Montréal. He plays in the collaborative duos Sound of the Mountain (with Elizabeth Millar) and Provisional Mailorder (with Anne-F Jacques). He is a member of Ensemble Supermusique and the Ratchet Orchestra.
