Introducing IMOO

Linsey Wellman and Craig Pedersen are very, very excited to announce the launching of the concert series Improvising Musicians of Ottawa/Outaouais (IMOO).  We’ll be holding concerts on every other Sunday (usually the 1st and 3rd of the month) at 7:00 at the Umi Café (610 Somerset W).  We’ll be featuring improvisors from around the Ottawa area and beyond.  The lineup for the inaugural concert on September 5th is:

  • Mike Essoudry – vibes/percussion/electronics/clarinet
  • Ryan Purchase – trombone/singing/lookin’ good
  • Craig Pedersen – trumpet/electronics
  • Linsey Wellman – saxophones/bass clarinet

Suggested donation is: $5

  1. I’m the only one without a slash. Guess I need to diversify. How about “B-flat trombone/F trombone [with the trigger down]/B-flat and F plunger-muted trombone/voice/thoughtful silences”?

  2. yowza! all of the shows posted so far sound really intriguing… looking forward to a great series and will do my best to get lots of folks to join me at as many shows as possible

  3. Hello guys,
Just wanted to congratulate you on your initiative. I am a drummer/percussionist living in Kemptville. I used to own a fine dining restaurant called The Dragon’s Lair Riverview Restaurant. Every Friday and Saturday night , I would have jazz improv at the restaurant. I am a classically trained percussionist and have been teaching and playing drums for over 38 years. If you google me, you will find articles that I have written on jazz improv that I have written. I have played with musicians such as Mike Rud, Brian Brown, Wayne Eagles, Dave Irving, Steve Schevlowsky, Tim Bedner. Mike Tremblay etc….
This whole concept is very inspiring to me but the idea was too far advanced for Kemptville at the time. I am looking forward to going to see some of your shows and possibly playing with you.
    Keep on trucking,

    Alain Poudrier
